This year’s Christmas Pantomime at The Met will be In the Shadow of the Trees.

It’s a magical show from Rossendale’s award-winning Horse & Bamboo Theatre. Set in a mysterious woodland, In the Shadow of Trees tells the compelling story of a young girl, abandoned at birth, who grows up raised by nature alone - a wild child who slowly discovers then loves and protects the natural world she has been raised in. But one fateful day, she learns that she is not the only human in the woods…

Among all the glitz and glitter of the pantomime season, this enchanting production is like a still small voice of sanity as well as quality - The Stage.

Enthralling, captivating, warm and beautiful, In the Shadow of Trees was first produced in 2005 at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre, where it won Best New Play at the 2006 Manchester Evening News Theatre Awards.

Suitable for children ages 5 years plus and their families, the show lasts approximately 70 minutes.

Tickets cost just £7.00 and are available now. The pantomime runs from Sat 13th Dec to Wed 24th Dec 2008.

Creamfields Tickets Competition Winner

This is what the winner of the 2008 Creamfields tickets thought of the festival..

Courtesy of the free tickets website I recently won two tickets to Creamfields 2008, and as promised I thought I would let you know how I got on. Well, I have been to a couple of festivals previously such as V, and Radio 1 One Big Weekend. However both of these events were bands, and I have never been to a dance festival before. So Creamfields 2008 was a relatively new experience for me, and also my girlfriend Emma who has never been to an event like this before.

The layout of Creamfields itself was very similar to the V festival in Staffordshire, just slightly smaller. The site was one big circle with the main stage which played dance music at one end. In the Centre were the standard festival fairground rides, with three further tents which also played Trance, Drum & Bass, and slightly harder dance.

At previous festivals I had traveled with large groups of friends, so I wasn’t sure how we would get on at Creamfields. The first couple of hours we spent taking in the site and having a few drinks from the different bars. Which I have to say were a complete rip off, £3.50 for a small bottle of Stella is scandalous. Anyway we had got the Creamfield tickets for free so we didn’t mind. Also the atmosphere was great and everyone was really friendly, I wonder why??

It was in the Creamfields VIP area that we met a great group of people who had traveled from Manchester. This was a seperate area in Creamfields that had a dance tent and a nicer area to relax, which is how we got talking to them. The VIP area was nice but if I had paid the extra £90 per ticket it would of cost I would have been disappointed.

Overall the music and the atmosphere were great, especially if you like dance music. Also if you get a chance to see Fat Boy Slim live it is definitely recommended. As with all festivals you have to wear wellies, and Creamfields 2008 was no different. At the start of the event trainers would have been fine, but after a few hours of 40,000 people jumping around it wasn’t the best.

Camping is always great fun, but if you like your sleep you got to take some ear plugs as it’s a lively site. Also if you’re camping and you like a beer, make sure you do take some with you as it is very expensive. If I was asked if I would go to Creamfields 2009, I would have to say yes.

Thanks Free Tickets we had a great time!!
