Castle Howard Summer Proms 2008 | Book Tickets

Castle Howard is proud to present the 2008 Castle Howard Proms. This year the Summer Proms will be held on Saturday 16th August. It has been hailed as one of the UK’s largest ‘Last Night of the Proms’ style concert outside of London.

The Castle Howard Summer Proms once again returns to a spectacular back-drop of music, fireworks and of course the beautiful Castle Howard itself.

The ever exuberant Jae Alexander returns to conduct the English National Orchestra through an evening of popular classics, movie themes and all the Proms favourites, including 1812 Overture, Rule Britannia and Land of Hope & Glory. Jae will be joined by soprano Janet Mooney and tenor Wynne Evans, who has become a firm favourite at Castle Howard with his breathtaking rendition of Nessun Dorma. Also back by popular demand is pilot Flt Lieutenant Charles Brown, who will again be performing a stunning aerial display (to music) in an original WW2 Spitfire.

New this year is Jon Lord, founder member of legendary rock group Deep Purple, and renowned worldwide as one of the UK’s most exciting classical composers and performers. The keyboard wizard behind timeless hits including Smoke On The Water, Child In Time and many more, Jon has also recorded and performed numerous classical works with some of the world’s premier orchestras. We are thrilled to be welcoming this true music legend to the Castle Howard Proms to perform with his band Gemini and the English National Orchestra.

There is no finer way to enjoy a summer’s evening than by combining a superb night of music.
